Accounting Manager / Controller

We are looking for a dynamic & a highly- analytical CPA (certified public accountant) to join our fast growing & tech-savvy team of bookkeepers, controllers, accountants and CFOs. You will be working from the comfort of your home office and will have flexibility and control over your schedule as we don’t believe in micromanaging. This is a client-facing role and demands strong communication and corporate financial planning skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Take a lead on operations of our practice including onboarding new clients, migration of accounting/bookkeeping work to the remote team, managing remote team and provide training as required, oversee the client deliverables, offer expert advice on accounting processes and technology stacks to the client, review financial statements and provide on-going support to resolve day to day operational queries.
- Facilitate monthly, quarterly or annual meetings with the clients and will be the clients’ first point of contact.
- Mentor a team of associates to ensure deadlines are met and quality of work is high as you review their files and provide direct feedback.
- Business development activities such as pricing, article writing or managing new leads may also be required.
- Writing and/or reviewing Standard Operating Procedures for all client’s deliverables and train the staff members to process client’s deliverables as per agreed upon timelines.
- Recommend improvement opportunities within internal processes as well as client’s processes.

Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in Financial Planning & Analyses
- CPA certification is a requirement, MBA is preferred but not required
- Professional judgement & foresight with a capability to build financial, budget and forecasts
- Problem solving & analytical skills to complete tasks with complete attention to details
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Dedicated to providing exceptional customer service to clients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Tech Savvy and ability to learn new tools quickly.
- Working knowledge of tools like Hubdoc, Dext, Plooto, Wagepoint etc.
- Profound knowledge of accounting and financial procedures
- Knowledge of cloud-based accounting software like XERO, Quickbooks or other applications
Notes:
- Even though you work on a flexible schedule, you MUST be available during core business hours. This is not a job that can be partnered with your other part time/ full-time job.
- We believe in offering personal touch to our team and clients and therefore you might be required to visit the client or meet the team in Toronto once a week.
- You will need a quiet office/space to work remotely, a computer with a webcam and strong, fast and reliable Wi-Fi.
